Check out this video for an inside look at our Foster Parents Night Out ministry. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room when we showed the video during our Sunday services this morning. We do this because Jesus loves vulnerable children and we want to embody his love for hurting kids in our city.
It began when we asked the question, “What would it look like to throw a blow-out party for hurting kids every month?” Here’s what came out of it. Enjoy! And if you’re interested in getting involved, check out the details below:
For a little background, our FPNO ministry was started three years ago by Paul and Bethany Richter through one of our missional grants, and is currently led by Luke and Kat Bonham (contact [email protected] to get involved). We learned the ropes from a network of churches in Salem, OR that had been doing a similar ministry for over a decade. Together, it’s now formed into a state-wide movement alongside other churches in the Portland metro area, in partnership with Embrace Oregon.
As a pastor, I love working alongside amazing volunteer leaders in our church body like the Richters and Bonhams who develop phenomenal ministries like these. As a foster parent, I love how our kids look forward to FPNO Saturdays as so much more than babysitting, but one of their favorite days of the month. As a follower of Jesus, I love getting to display the love of Christ together to our city.
